CANOE TOUR (FULL DAY)
Departure 9.00 a.m. from the Lodge.
Canoe ride
on the Napo River.
Arrive to the PROTECTED FOREST "MISICOCHA" of the
Jungle Lodge El Jardin Aleman of one square kilometer and hike in the
forest. Admire the extraordinary flora and the exotic sounds of the primary
rainforest. If you are lucky see toucans, oropendulos, parrots and small
monkeys. Your local Indian guide will explain you flora and fauna of the
Amazon Region with special emphasis to medicinal plants. Lunch in the
jungle. Embark the canoe and ride upstream to visit an Indian village and
see how to prepare "chicha", a fermented yuca drink and if you like taste
it. The natives will show you their traditional dance and invite you to join
them. Here you can buy also handicraft made by the Indians. Return to
the Lodge in the afternoon.
CANOE TRIP TO A INDIAN COMUNITY AND ETHNIC MUSEUM
(2 HOURES)
Departure from the beach of
Misahualli village by canoe. Arrive to the Kamamaki Ethnic Museum organized
by native women. They teach you about their culture and way of living. See
also some local animals. Afterwards embark the canoe and ride upstream
to visit an Indian village and see how to prepare "chicha", a fermented yuca
drink and if you like taste it. The natives will show you their traditional
dance and invite you to join them. Here you can buy also handicraft
made by the Indians.
SUSPENDED BRIDGE AND CEIBO TREE (3 HOURES)
Walk along the Misahualli River to the small village of Pununo where we
cross a suspended bridge and enter the territory of the Indian Community of
"Alto Pununo". See A huge, hundreds of years old Ceibo Tree. Continue to the
bridge of the Pununo River and go back to on the left shore of the
Misahualli River to the Pununo Community. Back to Lodge.
ROCKY LABYRINTH AND DART-POISON FROGS (3 HOURES)
Start your hike directly from the lodge and your native guide shows you
first the typical plants native people use daily. Than you enter the jungle
and hike until you arrive to a amazing rocky formation. Pass this huge rocky
formation, like a labyrinth with open caves and an amazing vegetation. All
is natural, but it seems to by a Hollywood arrangement for an adventure
film. Donīt forget to ask your guide to show you the tiny coloured
dart-poison frogs.
SILICON MINE AND RIVER GORGE (3HOURES)
Hike to the silicon mine on the Misahualli River. Silicon is white sand used
to make glass and ceramic. At this area you will find three different waters
coming out of the ground: white water with sulpha, black water with petrol
and normal spring water. The smell of sulpha attracts a lot of butterflies
and other tropical insects. It is also a preferred place for parrots. This
is geologically one of the oldest areas of the Alto Napo Region. Continue
and admire
the water masses that press
through the narrow gorge.
SMALL WATERFALLS AND NATURAL
WATER SLIDES (HALF O FULL DAY)
Only 15 min by car you can
visit the small waterfalls. Donīt forget your swimming suite. First hike
about 45 min. stream up to arrive by the waterfalls. Here you can take a
refreshing bath in the natural pool. On the way back you will find the
natural water slides that ends in a good filled waterpool.
